WHO'S DAHLIA?
DAHLIA'S WRITINGS
DAHLIA'S QUOTES

Her name is Dahlia Lithwick, and our acquaintance has spanned three cities, two apartments and one house, three jobs, and countless emocore CDs. In
a perpetually changing universe, her sweet, unerring ''Dahlia Lithwick is a Slate senior editor'' has been one of only a handful of fixed stars. No matter what case I am working on, what legal argument I am putting together, in the background there is always Dahlia.

who is this dahlia, whom i adore?
Dahlia is simply the bestest Supreme Court commentator around. Better than Nina. Better than Linda. I say this in the most selfish of senses, of course. Basically, Dahlia appeals to me. I don't know what she's like in person, but online, she's witty, she's funny, and--whether I agree with her or not--she simultaneously makes me laugh and care about the law. What more can I ask for? Super in-depth commentary? That's what the law reviews are for.
Here's what I've gleaned about her:*
education:
- She graduated from Stanford Law School in 1996 (though she started Stanford in 1992), and even wrote an article "Supreme Court Beings and Other Myths" for her alumni magazine, where she talks about her philosophy of judicial coverage. While in law school, she was apparently active enough in the Jewish Law Student's Association such that she was mentioned in a national law student newsletter.
- Before her Slate stint, she clerked for a judge, in fact, for then-Chief Judge Procter Hug, Jr..
- She also "know[s] and love[s]" Sri Srinivasan in the Solicitor General's office from law school.
- She graduated from Yale College in 1990. And she was an English major and a member of Ezra Stiles College (according to RRW, who emailed me). Also, she a debater (thanks to AN, who alerted me).
- She was also a "quietly brilliant member of the writing team" for her law school musical. Plus she did a rap song about Tax class ("let's talk about tax" to the tune of "let's talk about us" by TLC). Thanks, MM!
other work:
misc:
- On Friday, April 18, 2003, she gave birth to an 8-pound, 2-ounce baby boy. Whew!
- She has a cat. Correction: She has two cats, Homer and Stubby.
- She won the 2001 Online News Association's award for online commentary. Go Dahlia!
- She's married to a man named Aaron. (Sigh.) Plus I think it's this Aaron, because of this link. Actually, okay, it's confirmed.
- She lived in Israel for almost three years. (One of the times she was there she was in fifth grade.)
- Her dad is an economics professor. In fact, I think he's this economics professor, Harvey Lithwick.
- She wrote a column in Ottawa Citizen for awhile. (She's Canadian.)
