moving in

Moving into my new apartment, whoohoo! Okay, so it's less huge than I'd remembered, though still pretty darned cool. Argh, all this stuff to move, all this stuff I still need to buy.

egosurf

Finally found Earthjustice's write-up of the environmental case I worked on with my judge. "Earthjustice expects this decision may set an important precedent." Whoohoo.

Oh, and here's the Cincinnati Posts' write-up as well.

safe

Made it safely to DC. Am I actually safe here? Eh, probably. I generally don't worry too much about these things, preferring to worry about much sillier things like whether my workplace has fired me before I've even gotten the chance to start there. (Technically, I'm among the last of the Clinton Administration hires.) It turns out I still have a job, whew.

Oh, and to those of you who were afraid that I would (as I'd claimed) buy a bright blue inflatable mattress for my bed, and either called it tacky (Gina) or not what a Justice Department lawyer should be doing (Andy), it turns out I won't actually be doing so. Paul and Audrey gave me some old futons of theirs. Yay. Free futons.

last day in edinburgh

Paula's still asleep.

I should do a recap of The Trip and What I've Learned, in true introspective blog-diarist form, but I'll save it for later. For now I'll just say that again I might be out of email contact, at least until I start work on Monday. Or perhaps later, if they evacuate the building for anthrax or something. Who knows. I hope I at least get to get on the payroll first.

anthrax found at justice department mail facility

Gah. So much for anyone over there getting my postcards from Scotland anytime soon.

Paula, my host here in Scotland, keeps telling me she has extra Cipro (Cipro happening to also be the prescribed treatment for Crohn's disease, which she has), but I am being good and refusing.

Oh, and to my jokester friends out there (you know who you are): no white powder, please. If not for my sake, for yours. (Though yes, I find the East Campus White Powder FAC really funny.)
