titles

Album titles and group names are cutting too close. They are drawing my book, they are drawing Ellen. "Ugly Casanova." "Finally We Are No One." "Life Is Full of Possibilities."

accidental blue

My hair's now a light blue again, though I didn't mean it to be. I just left the violet toner (which you use to balance off the yellows) in my hair too long, and now my hair's blue. Which is sad, because when I was sticking the toner in my hair, Ilana yelled "Don't leave it in too long!"

So now I'm wearing a hat at work, even though I think they'd actually be kinda okay with my hair being blue. But I don't like this accidental blue--if I'm gonna wear my hair blue at work, it's gonna be bright crazyblue, not this faded shit. Hence the hat.

It'll wash out in a few days anyways.

things i hear, now that i have no television

I hear that the Sopranos is good, but that Six Feet Under is better.

I hear that Sex and the City is good, too.

I hear that Angel has gotten better than Buffy.

I hear that I am a Luddite.

I hear that people don't understand how I have the energy to go out so late at night.

I hear that the cast of some of the pundit shows have switched around.

I hear that there is always a Law and Order type show on at all times.

I hear that this new Aphex Twin video is pretty darned cool.

um

Great night. Dancing is wonderful, and music is wonderful, and this weekend has been wonderful. Ooh.

hmm

I think I'm going to stop eating meat, though I'm not entirely sure. But I've been considering it, and have been considering it for a little while now.

I might make some exceptions, with cultural celebrations being a bit one of them, and culinary explorations being the other. Basically the "new stuff" and "really really old stuff" exceptions, which I'm going to call the "Epin exceptions," because that's basically her approach, as far as I can tell. Given that my basis for this would-be vegetarianism is because of the ecological problems associated with meat (rather than the treatment of the animals themselves, because I'm heartless that way, sorry Amy and Darren...and Casey? I dunno, because I've never talked to Casey about this), I don't find the making of exceptions to be all that hypocritical. At least I don't drive or use air conditioning. So. Will keep my friends posted on how this all goes.

By the way, sort of on this topic, check out this ecological footprint quiz.

sigh

There have been several dcblogger events in the past week, and I even wanted to go to them, but I have missed them all. Where have I been? In the office. Till 11pm. Since Sunday. (I broke the late streak on Saturday, when I left early at 3pm!) This state of affairs, I expect, will go on until August. And I hope it will end then. Ugh. Sometimes being a lawyer really sucks.

there really is so much to this world...

...that I still know nothing about. Altered books, what an art form. Wow. See here and here. Just knowing about this makes me excited somehow. (Though perhaps it will give Casey the heebie jeebies.)

horses

It's the year of the horse, and I figure I should come up with some options in advance. Some of you know what this is about. So far I'm leaning towards Kandinsky's "Lyric," which seems to fit my year of seeing lotsa bands pretty decently. See here.

http://www.horseclick.com/HorseClick-Gallery013.htm

Depends on how the year goes, though. Franz Marc also has some pretty nice horses, but not as representative of my year (so far), and besides, I already have a Marc piece. And Kandinsky's synesthesia has good symbolic value as well.

trivia

Okay, so we are not that great. Oh well.

Not feeling talkative here lately. Feeling more like working on fiction writing projects (that book thing) and trying to get into another nonfiction writing project (another book thing, for whom I think I've found a stooge-I-mean-partner). That's it. Maybe my mood will change.

the 4th

Well, it wasn't full of red, white, and blue, but it was celebrated with a bunch of fellow public servants (court clerks and Justice Department lawyers), so I feel as if we were suitably patriotic. (And watching the fireworks from on top a courthouse with a bunch of U.S. Marshalls--how U S of A is that?) Hell, we even gave a token nod to the 2nd Amendment by shooting each other with water guns.

Fish, shrimp, and veggie skewers. Apparently people were scared by my obsession with the skewers, but hey, that's their loss. Skewers rock.

Oh, and Ed and I were thankful that our nation has finally caught up to Japan in the fireworks front. They didn't suck this year! We had shapes and stuff! Whew.

gah

I've always wanted a Libretto, and I've been upset for a long time that I can't get one in the States, and here's a great article explaining why. I've been looking at the dynamism web page for one for awhile now, but I just can't afford it. Not really.

update on the hair

Okay, one of my assistant chiefs, Billy, finally pointed out that "hey, your hair is kinda blue this week isn't it? It goes well with your glasses."

He has no idea what a green light he's given me. Well, actually, maybe he does.

oops

So I was toning my hair to get it white-blonde this weekend, and left the violet toner in too long. Now my hair in the front is kinda bluish. But the great thing is that no one at work has commented on it! This is a great discovery.
