Fine. So I'm just a little bit fascinated by serial killers.
people in support of the serial killer theory
- CNBC: Rivera Live!, July 11, 2001
- Roger Chiang, the brother of Joyce Chiang, the attorney who
disappeared from Dupont Circle in 1999 and was later found dead in the
Potomac: "There are some similarities involved. And I don't discount what
John Walsh cited p--about a possible serial killer. Foul play was in
d--was--was something that was involved in my sister's disappearance, and
we don't whether that was a stranger abduction or an acquaintance
abduction. So everything needs to be taken into consideration and--and the
parallels need to be examined, just like John Walsh suggested. I--I agree
with him."
- John Walsh again, of America's Most Wanted: "But I don't think he ever
planned to kill Monica Lewinsky. Again, we're discounting Christine
Merzion's death, who lived in the Dupont Circle area, who was killed and
bludgeoned to death as she was abducted or whatever leaving her apartment
one night, just like Joyce Chiang was; just like Chandra Levy, leaving
their apartment. These were women of accomplishment. They were all
college-educated women, women who came to Washington to be interns. They
were single. They lived in the same area. They all disappeared leaving
their apartments. And, you know, I--I agree with Joyce's brother. I mean,
I don't think the police have looked close enough at this case, and I
don't think they've looked--and Christine Merzion's case is totally
unsolved, and she was found in Georgetown bludgeoned to death. I mean,
these are three women of the--almost the same age, same build, same body
type, same color hair, etc., and there has to be a serious parallel
investigation. And I--I--I don't--look, it's only my gut feeling, and I've
been involved in this for 20 years and caught 7--I mean, 600 and--and 74
fugitives. I don't think Gary Condit--he--he may be the unluckiest guy in
the world. He certainly isn't the first congressman to have an affair, and
he should have come forward the first day and taken either the polygraph
or said, 'Look, I had an affair.' And you know what? The police are still
saying this... "
- NBC News: Today, July 5, 2001
- John Walsh of America's Most
Wanted says: "I mean, there's two girls that have been killed in
Washington in the last two years that fit Chandra Levy's description. And
I think police have to look at those two girls, Joyce Chiang and Christine
Mirzayne, and those girls' bodies were found, and they have--those cases
have not been solved. I think there's a serial killer in Washington, DC."
- Fox News: The Edge With Paula Zahn, June 15, 2001
- Paula Zahn, baby. Okay, fine, so they just mention it as a
possibility.

- Slate summary, July 13, 2001
- Reports sound pretty mixed about this. "The New York Daily News
reported July 6 that investigators were considering the possibility,
though they didn't find a testing kit in her apartment. The D.C. political
sheet the Hotline cites this July 9 quote from 'Chandra Levy friend Sven
Jones' from CBS's Early Show: 'Oddly enough, she mentioned at some point,
almost in passing, that she had to make a medical appointment. I said,
'OK, what is that?' Awkward silence. I was a little concerned for her, in
the sense that it might be a serious medical condition, or maybe this is
something that had to do with her relationship.' The interviewer then
asked, 'Pregnant?' Jones replied, 'Possibly.' And the Hotline says Levy
family lawyer Billy Martin told the Early Show on July 10, 'I don't think
we want to answer that, but we do know the answer.'
Now Matt Drudge reports that the July 24 issue of the National Enquirer,
which hit newsstands July 13, cites a Department of Justice source who
believes Levy was pregnant with Condit's baby. The New York Post reported
July 13 that Chandra's parents told America Most Wanted 'that although
some reports say their daughter may have been pregnant when she vanished,
they have no evidence that's true.' And the New York Daily News says 'two
sources close to the Levy family' are 'certain Levy was not pregnant.'"
